Frugal Beauty

Often we get coupons for Oil of Olay, Revlon, Cover Girl, etc for drug store brand make up. We can pair these with store sales to get very inexpensive beauty products - but how do we know which ones are the best?

Paula Begoun is the cosmetics cop and she is local! She has a website and many books about over the counter make up vs. drug store make up. If you subscribe to her website you get many free articles about how to match up drug store brands to over the counter brands. In the article 30 Best Drug Store Products you can see some of her best rated items, where to find them, their average (non-sale) cost and a little note about the product.

One of my personal favorites is Oil of Olay Foaming Face Wash for Sensitive Skin. I have rosesea and I have tried A LOT of expensive and inexpensive products and between this wash and some other skin tricks I have managed to nearly cure my rosesea! I buy this when ever it goes on sale and always with a coupon.

Also - my friend Crystal is a free lance writer and has a blog called Mommy Beauty where she reviews make up, gives tips on trying to be gorgeous and a mom and writes funny articles about her life. You can find good information there too about comparing drug store brands to store brands, applying make up, etc.

Leave a comment with your favorite drug store brand! Have fun!!
